Managing Space and Bandwidth with OpenDrive
Cloud storage accounts provide a great deal of convenience for business applications, as well as any other type of collaboration between multiple people. Depending on the plan you choose and what your cloud storage provider offers, you will end up with resources that will have to be not only shared, but tightly monitored to make sure that you don’t run out of space or bandwidth. Even the largest amount of resources can be taxed and render a service inaccessible at the wrong time if limits aren’t carefully managed.
OpenDrive provides a solution for this with its powerful user management tools, which allows the owner of any premium OpenDrive cloud storage account to not only allow users access to certain files and folders, but to control how much storage space and bandwidth they are allowed to use as a user of that account. This comes in handy when you want to make sure that each of your team members has the resources necessary to do what they need to do.
When you create an account user, you are presented with the opportunity to set that user’s space and daily download limits.
Once you determine what settings are best for that user, simply adjust the sliders to the values you want and, when you save the user’s configuration, they will be subject to those limits until you change them. You will then be able to view those settings any time in the list of users displayed in the Users tab.
As your account users work with their files and folders, their activity will be recorded in a set of statistics that can be viewed. That way, if someone is running close to their space or bandwidth limits, you can check their activity, determine what their actual usage is and make adjustments accordingly by returning to the user list and editing their parameters. Once you save the changes, the new limits will be in effect immediately.
As seen in the screenshot above, you can modify the parameters of the statistics to display more specific data, which makes the display more interactive, intuitive and smart. Searches can be done based on individual users, or they can be extended to all users if you want a bigger picture. You can also choose to view usage by the day, week, month or year, as well as choose a time range. Once the options are selected, click the Show button to show the filtered results. Click-able tabs show 4 different graphs for each search shown, covering downloads, uploads, download bandwidth used and upload bandwidth used.
Like all other features they offer, OpenDrive makes usage management simple, effective and most importantly secure. Whether you are collaborating on an artistic project on a budget with limited space or part of a worldwide corporation sharing files around the globe, OpenDrive has you covered.
