New Technology and How it Needs the Cloud
There has been a lot of new technology to hit the market lately and the frequency that we see new products out there will only increase over time. It’s an exciting time that we live in, and seeing what is out there now, all of the mind blowing devices that are hitting the market, makes us wonder what the future has in store. If we are seeing such amazing things already, just imagine what’s to come! It is important to learn all we can about this new technology and how it needs the cloud.
3D printers allow you to manufacture small plastic objects from your own desktop. Smart watches allow you to connect to your phone and access your notifications and apps, even make calls, more efficiently and safely. Smart glasses allow us the opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes without the need to read their minds. Other wearable smart devices allow you to control functions with gestures and voice commands, as well as tracking your fitness stats and helping with other tasks. Flying remote control drones can take pictures and videos from perspectives that aren’t otherwise possible or practical.
Although these technologically advanced products have different purposes, there is one thing that they all have in common, and that some of them are missing: unlimited storage. Every electronic device that operates in a way that produces data must have a way to store that data. Most of these devices have onboard storage of some sort, but because the technology is designed to take up very little space, miniature flash drives are some of the most expensive components that are contained within. So naturally, to keep costs as low as possible, manufacturers will keep the capacity of the flash storage as low as possible.
But with limitations in storage, there are limitations in portability and sharing. What are you supposed to do when you capture enough high definition video to occupy 4GB of flash storage? It doesn’t take very long to do, either. When this happens, there is nothing else you can do besides download the data to a safe location so your device storage is free once again. What happens when the location to which you are downloading ends up getting full? What if you want to share the videos you have taken with someone, or pass along some 3D print designs?
With cloud storage, you can utilize the vast capabilities of your new technology without running out of space or sacrificing portability. Imagine being able to immediately upload those videos, designs and other data directly to a cloud storage account from anywhere with an Internet connection. Cloud storage, in fact, is the bridge that connects technology with the Internet in such a way that makes these new groundbreaking devices truly limitless. The cloud possesses that last capability necessary to remove the chains altogether and wirelessly connect all of your portable and non portable devices to the world.
Regardless of what new type of technology you are getting into lately, the only way to get the true potential out of it is to unleash its power by connecting it to the cloud.
